Mr Gayan Padmasekara

Mr Gayan Padmasekara is a fully qualified, fellowship-trained shoulder and upper limb orthopaedic surgeon. Trained in Australia, he specialises in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the upper limb. He offers a comprehensive upper limb service, treating any shoulder, elbow and wrist condition including upper limb trauma.

Gayan completed his MBBS at Monash University, Melbourne in 2007.  Over the next decade, he completed a Masters of Surgery in Orthopaedics and a Masters of Sports Medicine.  Gayan completed his Orthopaedic training in Victoria with the Australian Orthopaedic Association and became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2019.  He then undertook a sub-specialty fellowship in upper limb surgery with the Melbourne Orthopaedic Group.  

Gayan is actively involved with teaching, holding public appointments with Monash Health and Austin Health.  A keen researcher, he has numerous publications. One of his current research interests includes investigating the cognitive contributors to shoulder symptoms with the goal of improving outcomes to patients with complex shoulder symptoms.
